Welcome!

This blog is now exclusively devoted to crafting in general, and the shop in particular! Pretty much all of my personal content has been moved to a new blog, one that is intended primarily to help keep our family and friends in the loop. (If you are interested in following the new blog, you will find it here.) This blog will continue to feature shop news, new listings, sales, giveaways, and all of my share-worthy crafting exploits.

Thinking Inside the Box

We just got some new scrapbook papers in  The Shop this week, and I fell in love with them.  I had to have a few of them, at least, even though I haven't done any paper scrapping since last February.  (Seriously, it's been that long.)  But, as Kelly pointed out in her digi-scrap class on Saturday, there are other things you can do with scrapbook papers.  Things like decoupage.

I am a pack rat.  I can't throw anything away, not if I think I might be able to use it later.  In this case, it actually served me well.  I'd held on to a pair of boxes that had once contained Godiva chocolates, thinking that I could use them for wrapping gifts.  Instead, I decided to re-wrap them.  So,

Ta-da!  I used one of the papers from Kaisercraft's Utopia Collection for the top, and a sage green from my stash for the bottom.  I love it!  I loved it so much that I did another one.

I'm not liking this one as much.  I love the top (this time from the Tea at Elsie's Collection, also by Kaisercraft) and I love the bottom (another from my stash)--but independently.  They just don't look as good together as I thought they would.  I guess that means I'm just going to have to go to the PX and get another box of chocolates, so I can make matching mates for those mismatched box halves.

Darn.

These are pretty! You can share the chocolate if you need to eat it faster. Or turn it into choco covered cashews! LOL! Elora is so cute!

Yeah, I'll help you eat the chocolate. It'll be hard but I will.

I love Elora's curls too!

I like what you did w/ the boxes. I'm also pretty sentimental- I save most, if not all, of my jewlery boxes, sometimes I'll re-use them. If I wasn't so attached, I'd give them to you to use to decorate and put the jewlery you make in them to sell. But, I think I'm going to steal your idea and decorate them myself whenever I feel generous to use one for a gift or whatever. :) (see, i was just inspired!) Plus, I think you wouldn't mind more Godiva Chocolates anyway, right? ;)

The picture of the fan blowing Elora's hair is too funny. People will always complain about the weather no matter what anyway. It's either too hot, or too cold, too wet, or too dry. Well, too bad!! I have to agree with you, it's too cold here for too long not to enjoy what little sun we get, when we get it anyway!
So, have a great summer, it'll be over before we know it!

I love pretty paper. While mum was here we made a bunch of little books that I send out as an extra with all of my orders. It was nice to finally have a need to buy paper again!! I actually need to go buy more since I am almost out.... darn... haha

I'm glad I inspired you, Mary! I certainly won't mind another box of chocolates, and I found some more boxes anyway. Have fun with it!

I've made a few more boxes, actually --I'll be posting them soon. I think.
